WHAT IS THE STUDY ABOUT?
Researchers from the University of California, San Francisco are conducting a study to understand how people who order abortion pills think about internet privacy.
If you decide to participate in the study, you will take part in a one-time 60-minute interview with a cis woman researcher. The researcher will ask you what you think about internet privacy, what websites or apps you used when looking for information about abortion pills, and any thoughts you may have about internet privacy.
WAYS WE'RE PROTECTING STUDY PARTICIPANTS' PRIVACY:
- We will not collect your name.
- We will keep the data we collect confidential, and we will not share your personal information with anyone outside the research team.
- You do not have to answer any questions that you do not wish to, and you may stop the interview at any time, for any reason.
- Your data will not be shared with law enforcement or other authorities.
- Our study data has a Certificate of Confidentiality, which means that law enforcement cannot require us to reveal information about research participants.
Your choice whether to participate in the research will not affect your access to abortion pills or other resources.

This study will inform efforts to help people keep their searches for abortion pills private.
WHO CAN JOIN THIS STUDY?
You can participate in this study if you…
- Have looked online for information about abortion pills
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Can read and understand English
- Live in one of the following states:
- Arkansas
- Alabama
- Idaho
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- North Dakota
- Oklahoma
- South Dakota
- Tennessee
- Texas
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
WILL I RECEIVE PAYMENT FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE STUDY?
Yes. Participants who complete an interview will receive a $100 Visa gift card, either electronically or by mail, whichever they prefer.
